Of course there are always walls, streets, furniture, objects and people... Of course we build, we break, we move, and we start again, here as everywhere... And yet, here or elsewhere, it's not the same. Here is our home and there is theirs. Everyone does things according to their own culture and past.

Looking at one's surroundings can be learned too. And a kaleidoscope is a very tricky way to learn: it slices up the most common places into slices of life, organizes little strips of glances and lets the particular shine through. By neighborhood, by shopping mall, by factory, aboard an ocean liner, in a polar village, in a school or hospital, on a brownfield site or in a tourist resort, everyone thinks of their world and organizes their territory... That's how people live.

Kaleidoscope, looking at life frames is a 33 x 26-minute television series designed to make us aware of the places we live in every day. It tells their stories and their ongoing transformations.

From episode to episode, Kaleidoscope, looking at life frames travels across Europe and the world, telling the story of our changing lifestyles. We move from an ocean liner to a prison, from an alternative community to a kibbutz, from the development of an industrial wasteland to the rehabilitation of a village, from allotments to a refugee center, from a university to an oasis... This is how Kaleidoscope, looking at life frames takes its camera from the far west of Europe (the Aran Islands) to the far east of Eurasia (Vladivostok).
